About Quilts In The Country
Why 'Quilts In The Country'?
From my early childhood, we were taught to give and help our neighbors. God has given each of us talents and gifts to be used for God's glory and to bring more disciples to Him.
As I travel on my faith journey, I believe God continues to give us opportunities to grow. We have also been taught to set goals and mission statements to help keep us on track.
My personal goal is to bring Faith, Hope and Love to everything I do and everyone I meet. When God gives us a vision, He is calling us to be obedient to His plans. As I am learning to be obedient to God's call, He keeps giving me opportunities to reach out to others.
When I read the Great Commandment, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27), I realize there is so much more we can all do to help our neighbor, and to make a better world for our children and the future generations. That is when the vision started for “Quilts In The Country”. I realized God has blessed us with a wonderful, peaceful spot in the country that we could use to help others. Quilts are patchworks of our lives just like our faith is a patchwork of God's love.
“Quilts In The Country” is designed to be a philanthropic event to help the local organizations that are always in need, but especially during economic times of distress. I had the wonderful opportunity to be a coordinator for Community Outreach for many years in Hancock County before my husband and I opened our retail business. During those years I was able to see first hand the need in our community. Our first year recipient of the proceeds from “Quilts In The Country”, is Love INC. a wonderful organization that is working with all the local churches and truly is helping out the members of our community.
